This bike has been owned by me from new, and was bought in November 2006.  My wife and I have loved touring on it, and the sale is purely for reasons of ill-health.

 

Seat tubes are 53.5cm front, 47cm rear.  I am 176cm tall, and my wife is 165cm, and it has been a good fit for us.  The frame finish has survived 18 years very well indeed, though there is some minor paint damage, as you’d expect.  It is a double marathon frame with S&S couplings.

 

It is Rohloff equipped, and the hub has been completely reliable.  The wheels are 26”, with Ryde carbide rims – the front hub is a Hope RS4.  I am including in the sale an alternative front wheel, built around a Schmidt dyno-hub, together with a Busch & Muller front light.  The tyres are Schwalbe Marathon Supreme, and were fitted in July 2022 – they have not had much use since.

 

It has Shimano XTR V-brakes front and rear.  In addition, there is a rear disc brake, the very powerful Hope V4, with a 200mm rotor.  For separating the two parts of the frame, the hydraulic line is fitted with a Staubli dry coupling.

 

The rear seatpost is a Cane Creek Thud-buster.  Saddles, bottle-cages, SKS mudguards and Thorn’s rack and low-riders, and a Zefal hpx 4 frame-fitting pump, as shown in the pictures, are all included.

 

For a comfortable all-day machine, with stable handling under load, you’d do well to better it.  There’s years of life in this bike yet, and it deserves to be ridden and enjoyed.
